The Sony Style store was Sony's flagship retail location at Fox Studios - Sydney. Sony Style had already been rolled out as a retail concept in the U.S., Japan and Europe. The Sydney store was to launch at the same time as the opening of Fox Studios. 

 

 

 

 
Client  Brief
This project was to set a precedent for Sony by blending contemporary retail architecture with cutting edge broadband technology and experiential audio visual design. Go Man Go were commissioned by the store architects and Sony Australia to develop and implement a leading edge retail broadband design 2.5 months before the launch and opening of the store and Fox Studios itself.

A strategic broadband network was designed to leverage the latest available technology to deliver a TV-like visual experience on a network of visual displays. Because the store was completely wired with multiple device outlets based on IP, we were able to deliver a totally flexible solution that allowed routing of any combination of streaming video movies, animations and digital content to any screen or device within the 3 levels of the store.

Video streaming content from Sony Music, Playstation, Sony Pictures and Sony Electronics was integrated into a continuous blend of entertainment, using networked interactive touchscreens, plasmas, digital projection and LCD displays. The Sony Style ecommerce website was also available to retail customers via touch screens on different levels of the store.

Sony Style’s Fox Studio showcase store was set up as a 3 storey broadband network. The implementation was a world’s first for Sony.

Remote access via a secure network allowed publishers to create and deliver content to the internal store servers from off site. In addition, links between Sony Corp. and Sony Music databases allowed for direct content updates for product information, latest music videos and Playstation movies.
