Business Website
The University of Auckland Business School faculty is located in Auckland New Zealand and is highly regarded nationally and internationally for its teaching and research programmes, as well as its contribution to New Zealand’s business enterprises. The Business School moved into their state-of-the-art purpose built
building at the end of 2007.
Client Brief
To coincide with the move, the Business
School required a complete redesign and development of their current Intranet using DotNetNuke
(DNN) as their website platform. An internal staff competition was held to find a new name for the Intranet. The winning entry was LINK - Leveraging Information and Knowledge
Go Man Go Website Design Services
Go Man Go were required to consult, architect, brand, design and develop the final DNN Intranet templates. The Business School's web development team were responsible for the back-end development, content creation/input and ongoing maintenance of the website.
Logo Development
Go Man Go's role was to explore and develop the concept of LINK. How "LINK the Intranet" would relate to the Business School's staff members, departments, students, technology, information etc. Consideration was given to the Business School's colour - lime green, and the University of Auckland's colours - black, dark blue and white. Several logo concepts were developed and presented to key Business School department stakeholders. The most popular logo concept was 'People First'. This was further developed with the most significant changes being to the colour palette and the inclusion of the University of Auckland Business School’s logo throughout the Intranet.
Link Intranet
The key Intranet objectives were to help staff locate important information quickly and efficiently and to encourage more collaboration and sharing of information between staff members. The Intranet had to be friendly, fresh and inviting with an easy to use navigation system. The concept for the Intranet leveraged the 'People First' theme. The objective was to personalise the Intranet experience and to encourage interaction, recognition and inclusion of all Business School staff. To do this, we designed website pages with headers and content that featured various staff members from the Business School.
Detailed concepts and styling were developed for the Business School's photographer. The successful outcome of images helped to maintain a cohesive, visual thread throughout the Intranet.
The Intranet's Home page is based on a news portal design, focussing on the Business School's current news articles and Staff news / announcements. There are also two permanent areas for showcasing individual Business School Departments and individual staff members.
The right hand column introduces a series of helpful links and remains a constant throughout most levels of the website. It also displays a series of modules allowing the web team to display variations of within each section of the Intranet.
The dynamic navigation system allows for multiple subsections and easy access to content across the Intranet.
